Privacy policy

What we collect on this website, why, who helps us handle it, and how to see, fix or delete it. Plain English, no decoder ring.

Effective date: set on the day this site goes live at goodhumanpartners.com

This is the privacy policy for goodhumanpartners.com. It's written in plain English on purpose. You shouldn't need a decoder ring to find out what happens to your information.

The short version

  • We collect what you type into our two forms, the contact form and the newsletter sign-up, plus when you sent it.
  • Our hosting provider also counts visits to the site for us. That uses a 30-minute cookie and records which pages you look at. We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies that can last up to 2 years. The details, and how to opt out, are in "Visitor counts (analytics)" below.
  • We use it to answer you. If you sign up to the newsletter and confirm your address, we also use it to send you the newsletter. Business contacts who have corresponded with us may also receive the newsletter, and anyone can opt out at any time.
  • We don't sell your information. We don't run advertising trackers, advertising pixels or session-recording tools on this site. Our newsletter emails are different: they count opens and clicks, as explained under "Our newsletter and anti-spam rules".
  • A handful of service providers help us run the site and our email. They're all named below.
  • You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you. Email info@goodhumanpartners.com or call 203.513.0739.

Who we are, and what this policy covers

Good Human Partners, LLC is a market research firm based in Shelton, Connecticut. In this policy "we", "us" and "GHP" mean Good Human Partners, LLC.

This policy covers this website only: goodhumanpartners.com, its contact form and its newsletter sign-up, plus the newsletter itself.

It does not cover:

  • Research participants. If you take part in a survey, interview, focus group or other study that we run or field, the notice you're shown with that study covers how your answers and details are handled.
  • Our panels and survey sites. Good Human Panels and the panel and survey sites that link to it, such as The Parent Panel, Pulse of the Pint, The Session Report and Teacher's Lounge, share one privacy policy at goodhumanpanels.com/privacy. If you're a panel member, or you took a survey on one of those sites, that policy is the one that applies to you.

What we collect

When you use the contact form

The contact form asks for:

  • your name (required)
  • your email address (required)
  • your company (optional)
  • your phone number (optional)
  • what you need, picked from a short list (optional)
  • anything you want to tell us about your project, in a free-text box (optional)

We also record when you sent it and that it came from the contact page.

Please don't put sensitive personal information in the free-text box, such as health details or financial account numbers. We don't need it to answer a project enquiry.

When you sign up to the newsletter

The sign-up forms, in the site footer and on the contact page, ask only for your email address. We also record:

  • which form you used
  • when you signed up
  • whether and when you confirmed your address
  • a one-time confirmation code, which we email to you so you can confirm

What your browser sends automatically

Like every website, this one can't show you a page without your browser sending some technical information. That includes your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for. This information reaches:

  • our hosting provider, which needs it to deliver the page and to keep out automated attacks;
  • Google Fonts, because the site loads its typefaces from Google's servers. Google receives your IP address and browser information when your browser fetches the fonts.

We don't copy any of this into our own database, and we don't use it to identify you.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our own code on this site doesn't set any cookies. It doesn't use your browser's local storage or session storage either. The cookies on this site come from our hosting provider (two technical cookies, described next, and the visitor-count cookie described under "Visitor counts (analytics)") and from Google Analytics (the _ga and _ga_ cookies, also described there). We don't use advertising trackers, advertising pixels, session-replay tools, or social-media tracking scripts. (Our newsletter emails, which aren't part of this site, do include a small image and tracked links to count opens and clicks. That's explained under "Our newsletter and anti-spam rules".)

Our hosting provider may set two short-lived technical cookies. __cf_bm (from Cloudflare, lasting about 30 minutes) helps tell real visitors from automated bots. __dpl (from Lovable, lasting about a day) makes sure you get the current version of the site. They're needed to keep the site available and working, and they aren't used to track you across other sites.

Visitor counts (analytics)

We use the visitor measurement built into our hosting platform, Lovable, to see how many people visit the site and which pages they look at. Lovable runs it using a service called Tinybird. We look at the totals, such as visits per page and where visits came from. We don't use it to look up individual visitors, and we don't combine it with our contact or newsletter records.

We'd rather tell you exactly what it collects than call it "anonymous". On each page you open, it records:

  • the full address of the page, including anything after a "?" in that address
  • the address of the page that sent you here (the "referrer"), if your browser provides it
  • your browser type and version, and your preferred language
  • a rough country, worked out from your device's time-zone setting
  • a random visit ID, stored in a cookie called session-id that expires 30 minutes after it's set

It doesn't record what you type into our forms.

Google Analytics.

We also use Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to count visits and see which pages people use and how they found us. We've set it up to collect as little as it can: Google's advertising features and "Google signals" are switched off, we don't link it to any Google advertising account, and we keep its data for 2 months. We don't use it to identify you, and we don't combine it with our contact or newsletter records.

On each page you open, Google Analytics records:

  • the full address of the page, and the page that sent you here
  • your browser, device type, operating system and screen size, and your preferred language
  • a rough location (country, region and city), which Google works out from your IP address. Google says Google Analytics 4 doesn't store IP addresses
  • a random ID for your browser, stored in cookies called _ga and _ga_ followed by our site's code. These cookies last up to 2 years, so Google Analytics can tell a returning visitor from a new one

How to opt out: you can block or delete these cookies in your browser's settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site works the same either way. Google explains how it uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Some other things to know:

  • Filling in the contact form never, on its own, adds you to the newsletter. We keep your enquiry in our own contact records so we can follow up with you about it.
  • Business contacts may receive our newsletter. If you've gone on to correspond with GHP about business, such as an email conversation about a project, we may send you our newsletter. You can opt out at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any issue or by replying to it.
  • If you sign up on this website, no newsletter goes out until you confirm. When you sign up, we send you one confirmation email and nothing else. Your sign-up stays unconfirmed until you click the link in that email.
  • We don't ask for sensitive information, such as health, financial or government ID details. If you volunteer any in the free-text box, we use it only to answer you.
  • We don't make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
  • We may use automated and AI-assisted tools that we operate to help sort and respond to enquiries. A person at GHP reads and answers every enquiry.

Who else handles your information

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing. We use these service providers to run the site and our email. Except for Google Fonts (see below), each one handles your information only to provide its service to us.

ProviderWhat it does for usWhat it handles
SupabaseHosts the database where form submissions are stored (United States)Everything you submit through either form
Resend, which delivers through Amazon Web ServicesSends our emails: the notification we get when you use the contact form, the confirmation email when you sign up, and our newsletter (United States)Everything you wrote in the contact form, or your email address, and whether each newsletter email was opened and which links were clicked
Google WorkspaceRuns our company email. Each contact form notification arrives in our info@ inbox, set up so our reply goes straight to youEverything you wrote in the contact form, and anything you write to us
Lovable, which serves the site through Cloudflare's networkHosts and delivers the websiteTechnical information from your browser, and form submissions as they pass through to our database
Tinybird, used by LovableStores and totals the visitor counts (United States)The analytics information described under "Visitor counts"
Google Analytics (Google)Counts visits and shows which pages people use (United States and other countries where Google operates)The information described under "Google Analytics"
Google FontsSupplies the site's typefaces. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy, not only on our behalfYour IP address and browser information, on every page (see above)

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety. If GHP is ever merged, sold or reorganized, your information would move with the business and stay covered by this policy's promises.

How long we keep it

  • Contact form enquiries: kept for 3 years after our last contact with you, then deleted. If you become a client, we keep it for as long as we keep our client records. This applies to the copy in our database and to the notification email in our inbox.
  • Newsletter subscribers: kept until you unsubscribe. After that we stop sending, and we keep only your email address on a do-not-email list, so we don't accidentally add you again.
  • Unconfirmed newsletter sign-ups: deleted 30 days after sign-up if the confirmation link is never clicked.
  • Newsletter opens and clicks: kept for 12 months, then deleted.
  • Visitor counts (analytics): kept for the period set by Lovable. The session-id cookie itself expires after 30 minutes.
  • Google Analytics: 2 months, then Google deletes it. The _ga and _ga_ cookies last up to 2 years in your browser unless you delete them.
  • Copies held by our service providers, such as email delivery logs, are kept for the periods set by those providers.

How we protect it

  • The site sends everything over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
  • The public website can add a submission to our database but can't read one back. Nobody browsing the site, including someone who pokes at it, can pull up other people's enquiries or sign-ups. Only GHP can read them, using administrator access we control.
  • The newsletter confirmation code is random, and it works once.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim ours is. If a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your choices and your rights

Everyone, wherever you live, can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete it
  • stop sending you the newsletter

To make a request, email info@goodhumanpartners.com from the address you used with us, or call 203.513.0739. If a request doesn't come from that address, we may need to check it's really you before we act. We'll answer within 30 days. We won't charge you, and we won't treat you differently for asking.

To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any issue, or reply to any issue and ask. You can also email info@goodhumanpartners.com with "unsubscribe" at any time.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland

We run research in many countries, so here's what applies to you in particular. Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, you have the rights listed above. You can also:

  • object to our using your information on the basis of legitimate interests, including to receive our newsletter
  • ask us to restrict how we use it
  • ask for your information in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time; this doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it

You can complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that's the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first.

Our service providers store and process information in the United States. Where your information leaves the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard.

If you're in the United States

Several US states give residents specific privacy rights. They include Connecticut, where we're based (the Connecticut Data Privacy Act), and California (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA). Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and get a copy in a portable format
  • correct it
  • delete it
  • opt out of the sale of your personal information, targeted advertising, and certain kinds of profiling

We don't sell personal information. We don't share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't use it for profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects. So there's nothing to opt out of, but you can still ask us to confirm that. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request.

Some of these laws may not formally apply to a business our size. We honor these requests from everyone anyway.

You can make a request yourself, or through someone you've authorized to act for you. If we turn down your request, you can appeal. Reply to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line, and we'll respond in writing within 60 days. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Connecticut Attorney General (portal.ct.gov/ag). If you live in California, you can contact the California Privacy Protection Agency (cppa.ca.gov).

Our newsletter and anti-spam rules

  • Double opt-in for website sign-ups. If you sign up on this website, you're added to the list only after you click the link in our confirmation email. If you didn't ask to sign up, ignore that email and nothing more will arrive.
  • Business contacts. If you've corresponded with GHP about business (a contact-form enquiry on its own doesn't count), you may receive the newsletter without signing up on the website. You can opt out at any time, using the unsubscribe link or by replying.
  • Every issue will say clearly that it's from Good Human Partners. It will include our postal address, 6 Weybosset St, Shelton, CT 06484, and a working unsubscribe link.
  • Opens and clicks. Our newsletter emails include a small image and tracked links, so our email provider, Resend, can tell us whether each email was opened and which links were clicked; we use this to see which version of an issue works best. If you prefer, turn off images in your email app, and you can always unsubscribe.
  • Unsubscribes are honored promptly, and always within 10 business days.
  • We don't buy, sell or rent email lists.

Children

This site is for businesses and professionals. It isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information through it from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us information through this site, email info@goodhumanpartners.com and we'll delete it.

Some of our research studies do include young people, always with a parent's or guardian's permission. That research is covered by the notice shown with the study, not by this policy.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use the email address of people on our newsletter list, we'll tell subscribers by email before the change takes effect.
